Remember that the PAR is not a non-linear editer.

On the PAR, live video is handled in realtime by the hardware, and computer
generated imagery is handled by the host cpu in software. On an 040 based
system, the PAR takes around 3-6 seconds per frame to encode the image into
into an animation.
